I have a ton. In New York we have these "regents," which are essentially a state exam on everything in a subject over the last year/ two years. I am unlucky enough to somehow have a Regents exam for all 6 of my subjects... Which also explains my inactivity Tongue

GT - Lucky you man! Although. I never quite liked homeschool, that's cool.

DH - Woah. Okay, I admit that's even worse than me. I have to write exams for 13 lessons, but they are just what we did all the school year.

Anyways, exams is the reason everyone is busy, but then there's summer, which means more time to get working on MNI again. If KJ and Bzp ever come up again. Tongue

Being homeschooled, I don't really have "exams", per se; however, I am supposed to work on some high school-level tests in a test prep book that we have. They seem simple, though.

Well, being homeschooled, I don't have exams. However, I'm a bit behind on my work so I'll probably have to start hurrying a lot. :/

This year, I'm video schooled. Which is basically watching classroom lectures, and then following that school curriculum. So I'm not really homeschooled.

I do have exams. Final exams start June 4th and end around the 6th.

I used to do like 4 subjects via an online class, where you get on a live chatterbox with the teacher and other students. Not now though. It was a bit hectic trying to keep up with all that. Tongue

Yeah, that's what I said when we started. But I did like my teachers. It was just a bit hard to get the best learning experience over a webcam and a chatbox. I got good grades though.

Now we do a thing called "Classical conversations" (I know, weird name Facepalm ). You go to this kindof private school place on mondays, do what you would normally do in school there, but they give you your assignments(a lot of papers and essays, which the program focuses on) for the week. You go home, do them, then come back next monday to turn them in, and so it goes. It mainly focuses on writing, literature, and interacting with your teacher and fellow student in an intelligent way, something that is very lacking in America's public schools. One of my favorite subjects is economics, which you might be able to tell from my comments in the Lein's Tale topic. Tongue

That's just terrible. Schools aren't just for learning how to write a composition and how to do math, they are about learning how to become social, and developing right judgement and character. From what I'm hearing there, it' even worse than here, and while here we know what we need, we just don't have it. What's the point of your life if you wake up, your mum teaches you boring stuff, you eat, go to sleep and then again the same? I'd be dying in such life, no offence whatsoever.

Nah, I'm done next Friday, but it's just really small stuff. Like German, Ancient Greek Grammar and such.

Yeah, that's why we don't do public school. It's horrible here. No offense taken of course, you just don't understand my situation. There are no private schools close to where I live. I used to go to a good one, but it was to far away from my home. We also did complete homeschool, but my mom wanted me to socialize more. So here I am in this co-op school, which happens to be very good. I get more social time, actual discussion and interaction with class and teacher, than in public schools where it's normally just the teacher funneling the answers to you. The reason it's more like a seminar than going 5 days a week is because most of the teachers are people with other jobs, such as pastors(again, better alternative than public school) that give their time to teach us.

From what I'm hearing there, it' even worse than here, and while here we know what we need, we just don't have it.
Well, I hope you get what you need. In America we need more cheap Christian schools.

What's the point of your life if you wake up, your mum teaches you boring stuff, you eat, go to sleep and then again the same?
My mom doesn't teach me, I teach myself through the books I get for the curriculum. In his teenage years Benjamin Franklin taught himself the same way.

What's the point of life if you get up every day, go to some building, and getting taught boring things by a teacher, go home, eat, and go to bed? Frankly, I'm glad I'm homeschooled; if i wasn't, I'd either be that weird kid in school, or I'd have become 'normal'. And after observing these "normal" public schoolers, I'm extremely glad I'm homeschooled.

So in other words, homeschooling works for some personalities, while others might prefer public school.

You realize we also have breaks? We chat with our friends and do the funniest things ever? Not to mention gymnastics...

Anyways, if you'd grown and went to a public school, your personality you probably be completely different than it is, just sayin'. And you'l love it, trust me.

And hey, you actually get to go out instead of sitting all day inside. Tongue

Sorry, but I am so glad that's not the case. I enjoy being different than most people, and I simply can't imagine myself being what the world regards as normal...

Since when did homeschoolers sit inside all the time? I go to Boy Scouts, library programs, the pool during the summer, a homeschool co-op or two during the early autumn and late winter, and the other odd event here and there. Staying at home all the time is one thing; being homeschooled is completely unrelated.

frankly, the level of activity depends on the family. My family doesn't do that much, really, although i am active in archery, homeschool group, and a few other things.
