Just thought I'd post this. I mainly wanted to see what versions of the original trilogy(in their varied trilogy boxed sets) y'all liked most. Most fans I find prefer the 2006(remastered and original versions) set to the 2004 set. I actually prefer 2004, because the quality of the remastered films are better in that one, and it has like 2 times over the bonus features than 2006. I also hear the new 6 film set is magic. Thoughts and comments? Shrugs

I never had a problem with either of six movies.

They're all awesome, and I wished they could make more. They have so much more story to work with.

Basically this.

I just watch the movies.

I don't see a difference between versions because I never knew such a thing exists.

I'm a big Star Wars fan, but even I didn't know there were different movie sets and differences in quality between them. Does that make me a... semi-geek?

On something more of us may be able to relate to (I can name at least one other user), who here has read the Thrawn Trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command) by Timothy Zahn? It's one of my favorite book series ever. I love the writing style, and Zahn does an excellent job pacing the plot and keeping the characters' personalities.

Yeah, the later box set(2006) for the trilogy had the remastered versions(some CGI added in) along with the old originals, which was the first release for them on dvd in unaltered format. I would LOVE to buy those without having to buy that box set, like I said, because the 06 set remastered films are not as good as 04. That's the lowdown. Tongue

And no, I haven't read the Thrawn books. I've read the Legacy of the Force and Republic Commando books. Currently going through Fate of the Jedi, and I really look forward to the books Plaguis and Revan later this year.

Grew up with the prequels, so I'm leaning towards those. Special effects and whatnot, not to mention insane amounts of nostalgia. However, the original trilogy is vastly superior, even I must admit.

Y u no consider Star Trek tho?

I grew up watching Episode 1(I rented it like 10 times). And I was like 6 or something, so I didn't know about the originals. When my dad told me I was like THERE'S MORE!!??

My fav film is Empire, my second fav being Clones. Good mystery in that one, by far the best of teh prequels.

And the only Star Trek films I really enjoyed were Wrath of Khan and the new one.
