INTRODUCTION

We thought it would be different, this tournament, we thought it would be more... civilized, you could say. Believe me, this is not a game, this is not jokes and laughs, this is an ongoing war, a fight for survival, bestial, evil, cruel, this is karzanhi in the fullest meaning of the word.

When we entered the game, all six of us, we were expecting a competition, a game, not this, we came so unprepared, it's humorous. We started losing lives right off the bat, and we learned to abuse any and all battle tactics we knew. Then, the worst came, the death of a teammate, one of us had fallen just too many times, ten to be exact, and he stayed down this time, he didn't vanish as was the norm, nor did he reappear in a new body.

We had about three seconds to mourn his death before the next wave came, unsurprisingly, we all fought like beasts... killing rage and elemental powers accompanied by a baleful hate so strong we were on the brink of insanity. As the fight blurred from beginning to end, we didn't even recall the boss fight, the five of us found ourselves stuck in that familiar circular room, with the glowing crystal clear Kanohi in the center sitting upon its pedestal.

As we all slumped to the ground, fatigue paralyzing our bodies, and exhaustion knocking us unconscious in the first few minutes we were there. When we woke up, the Kanohi grew steadily brighter and brighter, and we were suddenly back in the Tunnel, doomed to repeat the process again. None of us can go on; it's gone on too long, long enough that I don't even recall a Time before the Tunnel...

I can't let myself lose confidence, the enemy grows stronger, and the Announcer continues to put people into this game of death, we need to win, we need to finish this game, and destroy the Announcer, and his cruel game.

BREIF EXPLANATION

In this RPG, you fight against three waves of combatants, followed by a boss that always varies in difficulty. You travel through the tunnels, conserving lives, and racking up kills, just trying to survive, basically. The tunnels were made by a madman, nobody knows his name, or how he got the authority to imprison people in his ‘game’ and force them to fight against their will. But that’s not important (yet), what it important, is that you survive the oncoming waves of nasty things that want to eat you alive.

BATTLE DESCRIPTION

You have ten lives, body armor, weapons of your choice, you can transform into a Rahi, and you have a wrist mounted kill counter. Other than that, you have seven miles to run each day, while fighting all sorts of devilry along the way, three waves to be exact. Each wave is accompanied by a boss, a minor one, that should be fairly easy to defeat once you know how to.

Once you get to the end of your tunnel, you enter a large circular arena, where the real boss of that particular tunnel you just arrived from awaits. Once (or if) you kill him/it, you’ll head on into another circular room at the other end of the arena, in which you will get a night’s rest, after that you’ll be teleported to the start of the next tunnel, and the process starts all over again.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION

Imagine a wooden wheel, eight spokes to this wheel, and each spoke it a tunnel, with the circle in the middle being the boss area. The circle is cut up into eight smaller rooms, each tunnel leading into one of these rooms (which are all blocked off from the others).

Okay, each tunnel (which is at least a half mile in width and height, and six or seven miles long) ends abruptly, with a large circular doorway the leads into the one of the five (or eight) circular arenas. There they combat against a boss, and once they defeat it another circular doorway opens up at the side of the arena on the opposite side of the entrance that leads back into the tunnel.

Once the get through this second doorway, they arrive in a small circular room, with a large circle made up of runes in the middle, pulsing with blue light. In the very center of the room is a pedestal with a crystal clear glowing Kanohi Avohkki sitting on it. It slowly glows brighter over time, and they are teleported to the beginning of the next tunnel in a flash of blue and white light.

A basic idea of the tunnels and the whole makeup of the game location.

CHARACTER PROFILE AND IMPRISONMENT(creation)

You awake in a circular room, five other beings scattered around you, each of them also stirring. You notice the armor covering your body, and the weapon next to you, and a weird device strapped onto your arm… however, before you can even take a look around to see where you are exactly, a circular door opens up in front of you, and as you get up and walk through it curiously, followed by the other five beings, the door slams shut, leaving the six of you to walk further onward into the mysterious field of black rocks…

No rule breakers, everyone here is an experienced Role Player, and knows what I’m talking about. Keep it real, yanno. Oh, and no Kanohi, sorry, but they’re just not here. If it’s too big of a problem, or people don’t like it, then I’ll allow Kanohi at some point in the game.

RULES ‘N STUFF

These rules are to be read, duplicated, and followed, otherwise punishment will ensue.

One: All forum rules apply to this RPG, follow them as if you would follow these rules.

Two: You may not, at any given time in this RPG, disobey the standard way the game is played, if you do attempt to deviate from said way of playing, you’ll be warned once, and after that warning more extreme measures will be taken to stop you. /lolevil

Three: God-modding, auto-hitting, and meta-gaming are all strictly forbidden, you will be warned if you are caught doing so, and punished if further warning it needed. G-modding may sometimes be accidental, and you will get a light warning if the staff is sure it was an accident.

Four: Play fair, even though you are killing everything that isn’t your friend, you still need to play/fight/kill within reason, sense, and logic.

Five: Listen to the RPG staff, yes, even Razgriz.

STRIKES

Three strikes, and you’re out, you get one strike every time you break a rule three times, once you earn three strikes, your character(s) are killed, and you are temporarily banned from the RPG, you’ll return once the staff thinks you’ve had enough time off from the RPG.

PUNISHMENTS

These punishments affect characters only, and only temporarily, you will be given one punishment if you break a rule more than once.

One: Character is injured.

Two: Character is permanently maimed.

Three: Character loses ability to transform.

Four: Character is killed.

These punishments will be given out depending on the rules broken, and the severity of the breakage, and its impact on the RPG.

Remember: You start at the beginning of a new tunnel.

"If you want to leave, go ahead, we'll continue on as a team and survive. Now if what this old man said is true, then we should be fighting a load of monsters very soon, I guess we'll just have to wait and see," the Toa of stone said, walking onward through the large field of black rocks.

IC Garth - First Tunnel - Wave one:

Garth nodded, "Keep your eyes open..." he said, ripping his sword quickly out of its sheath, and holding it firmly in both hands. He let his eyes slide over the scene, left and right, up and down, looking for any signs of movement that was not any of the six Toa.

Unfortunately, none of them paid attention to their backs, and because of this, three Shredders ran in out of the blue, one running up behind Jasik, and leaning back to take a good chunk out of him with its claws. Another was rushing toward Kartah, and the third was running on all four limbs toward Nova.

OOC: And so the fighting begins. Feel free to make NPC enemies and fight them off yourself. And a few notes;

Shrills: They can turn invisible, with no trace of them being there but sound, not even a shadow is present. Their bites have been known to infect, and slowly kill victims, so watch out.

Shrieks: They can generate massive sound waves strong enough to kill you on spot, they need to be directly lined up with a target, and usually don't scream/fire until they're sure their scream will kill their opponent.

Not much to the Shredders, I'll have to think up something for them, but for now they're just the shrimps who get in the way.

Kartah heard a sound from behind a second before Shreader was on him.
Acting quickly he rolled back and kicked the thing as it landed on him, sending it onto the creature that was charging at Nova. However the Shredder was more agile than Kartah thought, and the creatures both resumed charging at their targets. Wincing as he stood, the creature had given him a minor scratch on his torso, Kartah waited till the last second, then smashed down on the Shredder with his war hammer. Turning into a Crystal Serpent the angled his body to reflect the low light into a laser beam, disintigrating what was left of the thing. Changing back into a Toa he looked to see how the others were faring.

IC Garth - First Tunnel - Wave one:

Just as the group began to deal with the three first Shredders, three objects whizzed overhead quickly, spraying the field with a loud blood curdling scream. Garth forced his hands over his audio receptors, and as the scream passed, he looked around the sky frantically to find the beasts. If he could remember correctly, they were known as Shrieks, and now he knew why...

He spotted the three beasts flying through the air, slowly turning to come back and stun them once more with their terrible 'voices'. "No way," he said, creating a small stone in his hand, and chucking it at the beasts; he used his power over stone to guide the rock toward one of the beasts, and he felt a sense of a achievement as the small stone ripped through one of the Shrieks. "They're coming back!" he shouted, preparing another stone to use against the Shrieks.

As he did though, he felt something from behind him, as if something had touched him, he turned and sliced his sword the air, and hit something, some invisible fleshy object. As the invisible being growled in pain, Garth was suddenly pushed down to the ground, his sword tumbling away from him.

He flung the stone at whatever was in front of him, but it didn't seem to have any affect other than to anger these invisible monsters. One (he had noted there was more than one of them) grabbed onto his leg, and started to pull him towards it. "NO!" he shouted, thrusting his arms forward, and launching the ground around him at the un-seeable beasts in front of him.

He heard a crunching of bones, and a yelp of pain, and as he slowly got up, he realized that those things that had been attacking him were Shrills. "They can turn invisible?" he said, thinking aloud. Garth had no time to think about that though, as more Shredders were already on their way, and those two Shrieks were back, screaming at the top of their lungs at the six Toa below them.

Using his power over air he stirred the dust up around that area. Seeing the outlines of several Shrills, Kartah sent lasers into the group and managed to get three of them before the cloud of dust disapated. Turning back into a Toa, he looked at his Kill Counter. He had made five kills. Swinging his hammer down on instinct, and the fact that he had heard the thing, he smashed a Shrill that had tried to sneak up on him. Seven kills.
Seven? Kartah thought. Oh, the Shriek. It must have died from the wound I gave it.
Creating a dust storm around himself he readied himself for the next opponent.

IC Garth:

When the dust that Kartah had made cleared, the group took note of the fact that there were no enemies to be seen, of course, this could be Shrills, messing with them, but there was no way to know unless they searched. "They couldn't have just disappeared... everyone, spread out and look for them," Garth said, picking his sword back up, and walking further into the black field of rocks.

The first attack.

Nova spun at the sound of footsteps. The Shredder -- for that was what it was -- leapt toward him, the swinging its fists in a fury, a black, blurred whirlwind of blows.

Automatically the Toa of Fire took a step back, swinging his sword in a ferocious arc. There was a brief flash of silver and reddish-black -- the Shredder fell to the ground in two--

And then--

The scream!

It tore through Nova's audio receptors like a dagger sliding into his brain. He clapped his hands to the sides of his Kanohi and fell to his knees in shock, barely registering his impact with the rough, rocky ground, his eyes sliding out of focus...

The pain:

An aftershock, slamming into Nova as powerfully as the sound had. Nova looked up, his teeth grinding against each other in agony -- three black shapes flew above, framed against the dark gray-brown of the cave ceiling--

They were gone.

Nova stood cautiously, unbelieving. It couldn't be over; not now...

Bang!

Something -- something feeling oddly similar to a fist -- slammed into the back of Nova's head, sending him back to his knees, scratching the Toa of Fire's knee armor even more. In a sudden flash of inspiration, Nova let his momentum carry him forward and down, to the ground; he rolled over and came up on his feet, looking back in the opposite direction.

Nothing. Nova frowned.

Then another strike, this one to his gut. He doubled over in pain, instinctively swinging his sword in the general direction of the blow. There was a strangled screech. A faint flash of black.

A tiny, almost inaudible beep.

On an impulse Nova raised his right wrist. There was a number on the display, he saw, glowing a faint white against the screen's dull, deep black:

It read 2.

That was all? Nova felt like he'd been fighting for a half-hour.

Karzahni. It's gonna be a looong time before we get out of this...

Smashing Shredders was almost a pastime for me by now. I'd gone through the Tunnel so many times that I had figured out Shredders. They charged at me, and in my Lohrak form I flew around them. I launched ice vision at them, and they froze. It was like clockwork. I then had 7 Shredders frozen. I used my Lohrak tail, and shattered the Shredders to icy fragments. I laughed as only a Lohrak could.

Luckily, there was nothing there for the most part, excluding the occasional odd looking rock, and a gust of wind.

Normally one wouldn't expect wind from a tunnel, but it had already been proven that strange things could happen, so why not a bit of wind where none should exist? He continued on searching, attempting to find the ones that had escaped.

Garth was examining the tunnel, probably looking for signs of more enemies. The others were panting or resting, Nova included. The Toa of Fire looked around himself, a cool wind chilling him, driving his adrenaline out of his system.

The question returned persistently:

Was it over?

He turned to face the direction they were supposed to be traveling. It was a bit lighter there, and there were more rocks. No movements met Nova's eyes; but then again, Shrills didn't need to be seen. There had to be some way to mark their position...

Wait. Wind?

There was wind in the tunnel. That could only mean there was a way out somewhere ahead!

"Guys!" Nova raised his sword in the air to get their attention. "Feel that wind? It must mean there's a way out of this place! Else, why would there be wind?"

Also, I would like to have Kartah say how far away the end is, or wherever the wind comes from, in my next post, but I don't know how far away it is or what is causing it.

OOC: The end of the tunnel is still about five miles away. The wind is indeed coming from the end of the tunnel, and more specifically what lies beyond the end.

So for now, a bit of walking. Also, it's funny, because wind actually does occur naturally in tunnels, there just has to be an exit or opening somewhere.

IC Garth - First Tunnel - Traveling:

Garth concluded that there were no enemies in the immediate area, and returned to the group, who were obviously taking a break from the fight. "Well... looks like we're walking, fellas," he said, sheathing his blade, and looking toward the darkened and black end of the tunnel. A chill was sent up his spine, whether it was from the sight of the perpetual darkness that lie ahead, or the cool breeze that calmed the group, he did not know, but there was an unusual evil about this tunnel, a devilry that was untapped, untouched, an evil that was steaming, and ready to kill... and it was certainly unnerving to feel.

The Toa of Stone cautiously walked forward, into the blackness and dark of the rocks and evil that lurked ahead of the group.
