First topic message reminder :

Today's the day, we all told ourselves. After two years of planning, two years we'd never get back, today was the day. It started out without a hitch. We went to our normal jobs, delegated by the Toa who ran this place. Fools. They never assumed, never even let it slip into their bloated, self-righteous heads that maybe we would escape. No. It couldn't be possible. Maybe it wouldn't have crossed ours, either, if conditions weren't so crappy here. We were beaten, starved, and degraded, which is NOT the way you want to fix the "dregs of society" like us. But I digress.

It started small. A prisoner or two "disappeared", the guards were sure it was just another murder. Security was loosened. That's when we took our chance. We overpowered what guards we could overpower, took what weapons we could, and torched that darn island to the ground. Hagah, that was their name for it. After some Toa Team of guardians. About 60 of us planned our escape. A quarter of that didn't make it, including my best friend. Crazy Piraka charged into a guard tower with an improvized explosive strapped to his chest trying to distract the sharpshooters. It wasn't pretty.

Anyway, we got to the teleportation devices that the prison inspectors used, but we found out they had already been switched to one-way when we sent five prisoners in and they came back in scorched body bags. Now we were stuck, and the Prison Board could fill the darn island with guards, cops, bounty hunters and the like whenever they wanted to. So, the 40 of us that were left went our seperate ways, figuring there was no way we could all get out in one big group. Now here we are, 40 murderers, thieves, drug cookers, and the like, trying to get off whatever's left of Hagah alive...and free.

Oh, happy days.

-Kellin (Prisoner #48104)

Locations

Hagah - The main island, home of the prison.

Hagah State Prison - Or what's left of it. The whole place was destroyed by the prisoners, and now only a few intact pieces of it are being used as bases for prisoners who are trying to form their own governmental system.

Free Hagah - The settlement constructed by the special police force that the Prison Board sent to quell the prisoners. Getting in here is murder, literally. The orders are shoot on sight unless you have the Guardchip embedded in your arm.

The Hagah Islets - There is a ring of dwarf islands surrounding Hagah, six to be exact, and each is named after a Toa Hagah.

Norik - The Islet of fire, Hakann, rival of everyone but himself, and second in command of the Prison board, resides here. The islet is no more than one miles in diameter, as all of the islets are. In the very center of this land of fire and lava is a black dome, burnt, with one entrance. Inside this base is Hakann and his soldiers.

Gaaki - The Islet of Water, this place is a small jungle with many rivers and small lakes, in the center of the lush jungle is a steel dome base, surrounded by about a hundred yards of dirt and sand. Vezok, the Piraka who lives and works there, doesn't like nature.

Iruini - The Islet of Air, it is basically a foggy island, with nothing on it but a gunmetal dome base, where Zaktan, the leader of the Prison Board, lives and works. Some very odd rumors come from this islet, such as the idea that Zaktan is the fog, or at least lives in it.

Pouks - The Islet of Stone, this small island is a metal box, surrounded by a force field, it's actually obvious that Avak lives here. No one is ever seen coming out, or going in, and nothing is known about the inside.

Kualus - The Islet of ice, it is a living mountain, just like the one on Xia, except it is under control by the islet's owner, Thok. The base on this islet is said to be deep within the mountain.

Bomonga - The Islet of Earth, it is nothing but a flat surface or sand, sinking sand, it is rumored to have it's base in the center of the sand pit. Reidak and his soldier dwell here, but they are rarely seen.

That's pretty much it. The smart ones don't generally stay in one place. It's an easy way to get captured or killed.

Factions

Prison Board - Otherwise known as The Piraka, six Skakdi who work for the Dark Hunters. They poorly run the island, and are the cause of the riot, and this whole problem with the Prison. Some say they were trying to make the Prisoners into a large army, but they backfired on them, and the riot began.

Prisoners - The 40 survivors of the Prisonbreak. They're generally not seen in groups, as it brings too much attention from the Board. They're mainly trying to get off the island alive, and all allegiances between them are fragile at best.

Natives - The residents of Hagah. They're abused by the Prison Board and treated bluntly by the prisoners, so it's not likely that they'd be too happy to see a member of either side.

Playable Species

Matoran
Toa
Steltian
Vortixx
Skakdi
Turaga

There are rumors that something went wrong with the teleporation devices when the prisoners tried using them, and a couple Black and White Makuta leaked out of some alternate dimensions. What a load of junk, huh?

Well, anyway, good luck surviving. I've told you all I can. Hope to see you in the free world, mate.

Rules

• BZP Rules apply, obviously.
• No god-modding (e.g. controlling someone else's character, having your character do something impossible). And if someone god-mods against you, don't do it back, tell a Prisonbreak Mod.
• This is a Text-Based RPG, so to join in you post what is basically a miniature story for what is currently happening to your character.
• Use IC for In-Character and OOC for Out-Of-Character.
e.g.:
IC: The Toa leapt from ledge to ledge, seeking the rogue Rahi.

OOC: Hey Randommember1, care to join in?
• Don't bunny (meaning control extensively) other peoples characters without their permission.
• Don't kill anothers character without permission.
• Unlimited Characters.
• No silliness such as suddenly turning everyone's swords into feather dusters and having a tickle-off. Believe me, it's not as funny as you think.
• Don't glory hog or continuously degrade someone else's character.
• Along with current restrictions you are not allowed any unreasonable elements (Life, Creation, or Time) and all characters are incapable of performing Nova Blasts. Light and Shadow are allowed, but only if you have a good enough reason deemed fit by a majority of the Prisonbreak mods. Custom species are allowed, but custom elements aren't. Current unusable masks are the Komau, Avohkii, Kraahkan, Mask of Creation, Mask of Elemental Energy, Aki, Rua, or any Kanohi Nuva.

Credit to The Power That Is for the above rules (with some modifications).

IC: While the others talked about the apparent 'zombie army', Kakashi began to stride back and forth, thinking. The situation of the group just got a whole lost worse. True, from what trickled into his ears, the zombies would be almost nothing without a leader. And, of course, the martial artists who, from what he gleaned of the conversation, had smoked Rannare weed, seemed to be raring to go. That was cool and all, but Kakashi couldn't help but feel like this horde was as weak as it seemed. Why would the Dark Hunters activate a virus that turned people into zombies if it wouldn't do the job and eliminate prisoners? They probably hadn't planned the bomb to go off-it came far too late to get the real fugitives, for the most part. So why were the sending the army?

Continuing his long, even strides, The Scarecrow continued to think, hand poised upon his chin. If he didn't figure this out soon, then there was a possibility the real plan of the Dark Hunters could be lost in the fire that he was sure would soon erupt-or more appropiately, continue.

Ikod raised an eyebrow at the conversation, "Zombies? Gosh, what has this world come to? There weren't any 'Zombies' a couple thousand years ago," he said, crossing his arms.

"So, you guys survived these zombies? In the Pit?" he asked Cipher and Reordin, glancing at their out-of-place teeth, which shined in the sunlight that shone through the trees.

IC: The result was most definitely not what the psionics toa had expected. After perhaps three seconds of the process, Amorian went into action, his eyes flashing as three throwing knives seemed to appear out of nowhere, spinning through the ten foot distance between him and Roila in a spit second, one flying at her head, andother at her waist, and the third at her heartlight.

OOC: Yeah, good luck blocking these babies; they're moving to fast and they have very little distance to cover. No time for a toa to activate their mask, or element, just in case you thought about making your characters do either. Dodging is pretty much your only way of surviving.

In other words; play with the Amorian and you might get knifed.

Also, your characters are being insane; what's the difference between a matoran joining or not? Amor wouldn't stand a chance against Kellin.

OOC:

IC: Kakashi watched the retreating back of Krausen for a second, then turned back to Dorian. Although normally, he worked alone, he knew that to survive this island and escape, teamwork was needed. And he also had a hunch that Dorian was the leader of the small group of prisoners. He didn't feel like a natural leader, true, but on the other hand, Dorian had answered his question in place of the others in his group and had been the first to fight against torturing Jamnicwo after the group killed Kellin. Kakashi shuddered. True, the Plasma Toa had attacked him, but on the other hand, Kakashi knew that Jamnicwo had just been doing his job. And more importantly, he found it hard to wish that sort of fate on anyone.

Snapping himself out of the reverie, The Scarecrow finally said: "So, what now?" He didn't even know if the group wanted to get off the island as well yet, he reminded himself. It would be good to figure out what they wanted and prompt some critical thinking and analysis of the situation from their leader as well.

Hualn grabbed the hilt of his sword, easily tugging it out of the wood and sheathing it again as he kept his eyes trained on the blue glint he had just spotted in the distance. Someone was out there, he knew. Time to find out who it was...

The Captain froze. Completely. It was standard stealth training: The eye was naturally attracted to motion, and if one didn't move, then maybe the eye would move on from a far enough distance that camouflage was effective. But apparently, this wasn't one of the times when it did move on. Because the midgety green maniac was rushing fowards, and he didn't seem intent on turning his ocular sensors away anytime soon.

OOC: FYI, Hualn saw the sparkle of sunlight on Aki's cap badge and went after that, figuring it didn't belong there.

IC: The Captain backed away slowly into the shadow, trying to hide, but it was no use. The midgety green guy (whose body, on closer inspection, appeared to be shimmering as well, and making a whirling sound) was too close to not hear Doomslayer's every move. So close, in fact, that with a skidding charge, the midget had U-turned, whipping out his sword in the same motion, and paused, directly before the now unsheathed tremendous blade was one millimeter before the toa's throat.

"Who are you?" began Hualn, trying to keep his voice from trembling from the pain of the sudden exertion of his wounded body. He suddenly remembered his standard interrogation of beings one met for the first time and asked: "Who are you; what are you armed with, including both weaponry and powers; and what are you doing on Hagah?"

The Captain didn't take a moment to reply before he began to rattle off his personal information, saluting suddenly in an extravagant gesture as he drew himself up to his full height. "I am the Captain Aki Rua Doomslayer The First, Toa of Oil and mid-range specialist, veteran of the Battles of Tren Krom Peninsula, the Ambush of the League of Six at Xia, and The Second Southern Islands Campaign. I hold experience in several dozen occupations including pirate, soldier, and cook. I work in the lengendary mercenary syndicate Cold Iron based on the Southern Continent, my call sign being #0581777.," he continued, rattling off his credits and current occupation. "I am armed with twelve madu cabolo grenades, one repeating crossbow with six cartridges of protosteel-tipped quarrels holding ten apiece, and one protosteel surujin, along with my Oil powers at a Toa level and a Great Mask of Laser Vision. And I'm here on Hagah because...Apparently, one of the higher-ups thought I should go kill the scum of the Universe with my legendary prowess and might. And you?," asked The Captain, easily recognizing a fellow merc by the way the midget had not only expertly cut escape off and drawn his weapon while running, but by the way that under the barrage of information, the little warrior only took in the information, without even a nod, listening and expertly filing away all the information.

Hualn didn't know the guy at all, apart from having heard of the battles and campaigns he talked about. Each were considered legendary, but then again, this guy's armor looked pristine! And each one was an incredibly bloody battle or campaign waged many thousands of years ago. This guy couldn't be over 5, 000! But although this guy seemed to talk bigger than he actually could've fought, he definitely wasn't lying. The way he rattled it off that quickly meant that it actually was his information. Hualn now knew that this guy was definitely not to be taken lightly. Fighting in three of the bloodiest conflicts ever in the Matoran Universe and getting out without a scratch was already to make him weary, but a guy who'd mastered three weapons and an element (What kind of element was Oil, anyway?, he wondered, but still thought it plausible), plus a Kanohi, was no pushover.

Storing the information away, Hualn sighed slightly. He knew that this guy could be his enemy-after all, Cold Iron was a rival syndicate, but he suddenly found he wasn't able to identify with his mercenary mission anymore. Maybe he had been hired by his group, but now he was injured and behind enemy lines, as well as alone. And besides, it was common courtesy for two mercenaries to introduce each other this way.

"I am Hualn, Grazonurus and close-ranged specialist, veteran of Operation Doom Viper, the Battle of Visorak, and the Southern Continent Campaign. I hold experience as a mercenary only. I work for the mercenary group Blood and Steel, my call sign being #0629. I am armed with my sword made of Grazonurus armor and my own body, including its exhales and inhales alone. And I am here on Hagah because Hakann hired me; however, behind enemy lines and wounded, I am most likely presumed dead," he added. "Now that the Prison's been nuked, all I want is to get off the island."

OOC: The battles, operations, and campaigns I all came up with just to show that these guys are experienced. And besides, there were probably more wars in the MU then we saw or read about. The same is true of their mercenary groups.

"We need to tell Kellin he's in danger."

A plan was formulated. The Toa of Iron created gigantic iron letters which one row by one row Jamnicwo let gravity lose their hold on them, and they floated into the air. They floated there, and our resident Lightning Toa shot arcs of lightning around the dark iron sign giving it a radiance with words spelling vengeance for the one named Kellin in the center.

WANTED: TOA KELLIN, PRISONER #48104. TOA OF SONICS WITH MAHIKI, LAST SEEN IN HAGAH FOREST. WANTED FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF BOMBS AND NUMEROUS MURDERS. REWARD: FOUR MILLION WIDGETS.

Ikod facepalmed, literally, and he watched those stupid morons trying to attract the attention of the whole island. "What kind of morons are they?" he asked, pointing at the mob of people on the caravan. These were prisoners, they stole things, and they would most likely take the four mil, and run for the hills with their cash.

Of course, the 'hill' was just a beach, as there was nowhere to run. "They're gonna die doing that," he said, looking up a the huge letters floating in the sky.

---

IC Skar:

Swim, swim, row, row, pain, burning, cramps, stop, sense, turn, slash, kill. Skarloth swam closer to the island he saw in the distance, a huge stone building burned, the top blown off completely. "Well," he said, spitting out water in his mouth, "what the karz happened here?" the Matoran asked himself, continuing his swim toward the island.

He stopped, he could sense something in front of him, but he couldn't tell what... it moved along the surface of the water quickly. He could hear it too, but he could not see it through the churning and moving water, after a few seconds, he saw a large metal object hurtle towards him, he ducked underwater, and let the boat pass.

When he surfaced again, he saw the boat flying across the water, off towards another, smaller island... or rather, a large floating metal box on the ocean. "Uh, excuse me..." he said, turning back to his task. He swam onward for a few minutes, eventually noticing how shallow the water was getting.

Not minutes later, he could feel the sand under his feet, and soon, said sand took his weight, and he stood torso deep in the water, savoring the water for a last few seconds.

And then, faster than any normal being could move, he got out of the water, and up the entire beach, running into the forest he saw. Anyone who saw his great emergence from the ocean would have seen a red and black spec leap from the water, and then dash into the woods.

Thankfully, nobody had seen him, and he was able to change over from water to solid ground fairly easily. He had thought that he would be more difficult, since the last time he really stood on land with gravity weighing him down was back before Marhi Nui sank... and boy, that was definitely some thousands of years ago.

He made his way through the forest, not once did he trip or get stuck in the forest, he managed to weave his way around obstacle and tree and bush that would normally make his life Karz in the woods.

Of course, him, being a sea creature and all, didn't know what forests were normally like. He knew ocean crevices, large rocks, rocky ocean floors, giant caves, he didn't know dry land. He was probably stronger than most Matoran on the surface, and not just because he was mutated that way, but because he had spent so much time in water, forcing him to adapt to the heavy water pressure.

He was willing to bet he could take on a Toa, heck, maybe even a Skakdi, if he was feeling really lucky. He knew he was surrounded by life, Rahi, plants, but, he felt another presence, and one that was fast approaching, of course, he didn't actually feel this, but he did hear them, and see them.

Two beings stood in the forest, and Skarloth, being who he was, decided that he was best that he hide behind a tree and simply watched the two as they spoke to one another.

OOC: Uh, if they aren't talking, then say so next post, Mangai.

"I have the feeling we're gonna get killed doing this."

IC: Krausen
"And who knows we put up the sign? My money is hidden safe away. We're fine."

I thought about Jamnicwo. He was a determined leader but two short-sighted in the scheme of things. He had been raised to detest any sort of material crime whatsoever, and was oblivious to the consequences of his actions. The sign was amusing, and sure to cause quite a stir. Maybe someone would kill Kellin and bring him to use. At any rate Krausen wanted to Kellin for not thinking of what he should've done a long time ago. The caravan hits bump, and Krausen found himself looking at Roila, mentally probing for Kellin. Krausen knew he had a weak mental shield, and that Roila could strike daggers in his charming actions if distracted. Krasuen planned to be that distraction. Lightstones tended to distract when fired from rifles. As Violeto, Krausen had billions in stolen cash. His recent appointment to guard had intended him to cash in on some prisoners. The prisoners had other plans, and Krausen had to fight off some in Hagah. Now Kellin had nuked the place. Krausen could've made millions from selling a nuke to destroy Hagah. Kellin was first, then whoever planted the nuke was next. With this guard team, Krausen had a valuable strike force. He may seem to hang back from discussions, but Krausen was manipulating events. The only issue was finding Kellin. And with this sign Krausen had suggested making, Kellin would come to them.

IC: Now fully aware of each other's accomplishments, each mercenary regarded the other one with the due and easily-given respect for both being straight-backed and experience. But The Captain broke the silence first. "Hualn? You are...The Untouchable, then, a legend nearly as titanic as mine," he extrapolated.

Hualn allowed himself a small surge of pleasure. Was he that unique, being perhaps the only Grazonurus to fight, that he had become a legend in mercenary circles that fast? He idly wondered how much rival groups were staking on his head and let a little bit of the compliment go to said head at that moment. "Yes, I am he," he nodded with a touch more dignity than he was used to. "We Grazonurus are a rare kind, and I may be the only one who has taken up arms for money."

"Well, in that case, if you ever see your kind again, tell them to join!," chuckled the Toa, and Hualn suddenly found himself joining in as well. "Mata Nui only knows how many like you we could use on the battlefield, what with your tremendous strength and speed, as well a being bulletproof. It is true your species could only make a specialized force, but of course," added the Oil Toa," think of the havoc it could wreak on the enemies of our clients! Almost as much as I could..."

Hualn, however, missed this last comment-too full of flattery, he was bowing slightly and muttering: "Ah, 'tis nothing, we really aren't all that..." But for all his battlefield prowess, the Grazonurus couldn't hold back the grin that was now apparent on his face.

"But now," The Captain began once more, looking back at the finally-standing Hualn, "We have more important matters to discuss. For example, the matter of your most illustrious sword placed near my neck." He chuckled again, to show it wasn't too big of a problem.

Hualn flushed and stopped holding the sword up, sheathing it again. He hadn't known it was there all this time!

"In any case," began Doomslayer for what Hualn could tell was a final time, "We have even more important matters than that. Such as our current situation..."

"Right now," listed Aki on his fingers, "We are two downtrodden mercenaries. For one, we are both behind enemy lines. For another, you are injured. This is not a good situation. Although we both are so powerful that our skills are legendary, we are up against roughly forty prisoners if we want to escape alive. As well as, apparently, one madman with at least one big forsaken nuke. In fact, right now, it looks like our biggest priority before we die of radiation sickness, get nuked, or get found by some prisoners, is..." He paused, letting Hualn reach his own conclusion.

"Getting off the island," the Grazonurus slowly nodded, appreciating the quick analyzing skills of the Toa he had already come to think of as a comrade. Although mercenaries were hired for money and would lose that resource if they quit a job, they weren't necessarily quitting, just making a tactical retreat. No one would blame them for that under these circumstances.

"So, are you with me?" The Captain held out a ready hand.

Directing the ridges on his hand to exhale, Hualn brought it up to give the Toa a firm handshake. "Friend, I'll be with you for as long as it takes," he said, smiling slightly again.

"Backwards, then," said The Captain, warmly but with a touch of firmness, and what was perhaps the most lethal, yet unlikely duo on the island instinctively slipped into a slow stalk in the direction of, unbeknownst to them, a certain mutated matoran.

OOC: I'm pretty scared of The Captain right now. When you think about it, he had a battle-ready and wary Hualn eating out of his hand and thinking of the two of them as 'us' in just a few minutes, even though they belonged to rival mercenary groups!

IC: Amorian yawned almost boredly, picking up his daggers, and whistling as he did.

He let out a quick bark of laughter at the sign.

"What fools, why not just take the soldiers they have instead of trying to force more into service," he said to a toa who had just appeared, not even noticing his strange form of entrance.

OOC: That's you, Artakhafan.

IC Skarloth:

Oh karz no, the Matoran thought, but before he moved, he queried his fear... perhaps he could make allies out of these so called mercenaries. Skar stood up slowly, swords sheathed, and slipped backwards through the trees soundlessly to a point where he could get a running start.

He then set off, bumbling through the woods on purpose, making noise, he ran until he tripped over a log, and right out into the open view of Aki and Hualn. He looked up, and backed away in a flawless but fake fear, holding up an arm in self defense, "Please, don't hurt me!" he yelled. Then, he re-noticed the Captain's hat, and stared at it, "Are you... the.. authorities?" he asked in a pretend trembling voice, of course, anyone seeing him would see a Matoran, petrified, and in total fear for his life.

He gulped, actual fear swirling in his mind, if these guys didn't buy this cliche Matoran act, then he was basically screwed, unless, that was, he could get away from them.

IC Kpik:

Kpik recognized that voice, but only slightly, he turned in the direction of Amorian, and squinted at the sight of the being. "Amorian? Is that you?" he asked, walking toward the Matoran. Kpik only knew Amor from when they were a large group in the prison, they had all split up, and they were still trying to get back together.

"What am I doing here?"
"Where is here?"
"Who am I?"

These were Kartah's thoughts as he stood there, at first not noticing the giant Wanted poster lighting up the sky.
Then he snapped out of it when he realized the red armored Matoran speaking to him.
"I-I don't know? I mean, um, I don't know what's going on. Who's this Kellin guy?"
"And," He added to himself. "Who am I?"

OOC: Don't forget to notice his brand new, shiny, strait out of Artakha's forge, protosteel, Toa Armor. Tongue Splattered with a bit of mud from my less than glorious entrance.

IC: Whilst the others were off planning the attack on Kellin's base, the two Martial Artists had decided to move off a bit and spar, to keep Tokaz's skills sharp and hone Cipher's towards their former level.

The two Toa now stood at the edge of the forest, facing eachother in combat stances, each focused and relaxed, ready to make the first move.

At least, until they felt another presence approach them, far too late.

Tokaz whirled, with a shouted "Who's there?" yet finding nothing.

A millisecond after he figured it out, he got his response in the form of a surgical chop to the base of the neck, causing him to slump forward, unconcious
.

"Tokaz!" Cipher exclaimed, charging towards the fallen Toa, and where he estimated the unseen opponent was.

Next thing he knew, he found himself in a sleeper hold. Fighting to break free, the Toa grabbed the offending arms even as the world began to go spotty. Just before he broke free, he finally succumbed to oxygen deprivation and went limp, the murky blackness in his vision now all-encompassing.

Hoisting the two boys onto each shoulder, Tevro Highwind made for the trees towards the beach.

It's time to go home, he thought as he approached the shore.

IC: Riaril

Riaril went to go after them and make sure they were feeling okay; after all, they'd just smoked more weed than she had ever seen in one place between the two of them, with Dorian's help and-

she had just enough time to see them being carried away by an unseen force.

"Dorian!" she screamed.

IC: Dorian

Dorian heard the cry and ran towards her, seeing Cipher and Tokaz being carried off towards the shore.

No.

Dorian made a break for them, but he caught a chop to the neck by whatever was there, falling to the ground gasping for air. He was up in half a second, but by the time he was...they were gone.

Both of them.

Gone.
