Okay, so as the leader of LT, I have decided to hold a brainstorming session for what the storyline will be. A quote from Biosector01's page on Lein should help you guys come up with something...

I've put together a working plotline that the Guild Three writers have come up with so far; we still need to work on some specifics, but so far the concept is coming together nicely.

WORKING PLOTLINE FOR LEIN’S TALE

Lein is a fairly successful trader, who works with his girlfriend, Dyra, by the side of a Bota Magna river. Lein makes a nice amount of money, but when an opportunity to make even more appears in the form of a bet, he -- with some prodding from Dyra -- takes a risk. Unfortunately for him, he loses the bet and ends up another struggling merchant.

In order to make more money, he has to start trading under the table; again with some persuasion from Dyra, he begins working with shady black market dealings -- and finds that he’s a natural at it. However, his conscience aches at this choice; and to make matters worse some Glatorian get wind of his illegal doings and seek proof of his involvement with the black market.

At some point his dealings result in a huge forest fire. Lein has to rescue loved ones and everybody else as well, while having the Glatorian after him hot on his tail.

The fire results in the death of one of his close friends. He spends the rest of his life trying to make things right, despite suffering depression and, soon after, a fatal illness. His deeds clear his name, and after death people speak his name with respect once again.

Those banners are cool.
Can we flesh out a few chapters where he acquires the blowroot? I think LL called it that...

About the chapter: I agree, Lein's acquisition of the blowroot should take place later on in the story. Perhaps around the eighth or ninth chapter?

A couple of brainstorming ideas: Most of what intrigues me about Spherus Magna is the wide array of unique creatures. Take Annona for example. Nothing normal there. This might just be because I've been reading too much Lovecraft lately, but I think we need some cool, weird creature. Perhaps one of the people he is in the black market dealings with isn't quite fully Agori. Lein might even know this. This Agori may have been tampered on by the Great Beings or some origin we don't know about, but when he is attacked, his armor becomes fire and lashes out at his attackers.

So, to incorporate it into the story summary in the big post above, the Agori might try to betray him to the Glatorian, so he attacks the Agori, forgetting about the Agori's secret. This escalates into a forest fire, the flaming Agori disappearing.

Also, plot twist randomly thought up - Dyra knows of this Agori and wants to see him suffer, giving her motive to push Lein towards the black market.

IDK if this kind of brainstorming is allowed, but I'll throw this out there anyway. Smile

Hmm... well, weird creatures are definitely something we should try to include in the story. If Bara Magna boasted an impressive collection of flora and fauna even despite being a desert, Spherus Magna must have had much more wildlife present. It would be interesting to explore that idea a little further.

Now, I've never read any of H.P. Lovecraft's work, so I don't know how to respond to your claim of reading too many of his books. As for having a not-exactly-Agori dealing with Lein... I honestly don't know. On one hand it would be a very interesting plot twist; on the other hand it may not be realistic. But then again, all Agori and Glatorian boast some sorts of mechanical implants, so the not-exactly-Agori idea might not be too far-fetched.

Perhaps we could change the Agori from being some sort of tentacled monster-thing to someone with far more robotic implants than usual? Maybe we could throw in some illegal implants. That might be an interesting plot twist.

The idea of illegal implants would be so ironic! LOL Maybe this Agori stole from the Great Beings? Very unlikely feat, but would it necessarily be entirely impossible? Throwing ideas that might not be any good out there.

FTR, Lovecraft is a early 20th century horror that not only inspired Stephen King but you can see his creations in Greg's characters like Tren Krom. (I personally see some connections with Annona and Gaardus as well, but Tren Krom is easily the most obvious). If you're interested, one of his most famous stories, The Call of Cthulhu, can be read here (Public domain now, so it is legal)

It ought to be possible to steal from the Great Beings -- after all, they are nowhere near infallible -- but it would be very, very hard. Though, it would be interesting to have the black market chain stretch all the way behind the Great Being's backs.

The idea for the Black Market to be directly evolved into the Great Being's operations sounds rather a hard thing to ever happen. But, it doesn't need to be.

Because the GBs would have various Agori they trust to do the delivering. Now if this Agori, can be paid to sell stuff to the Black Market, then it starts to make even more sense. These "Modified Agori" would be the Agori the GBs trust, and the Black Market leaders. Sounds cool?

Let me get this straight: You're saying that the Agori deliverers the Great Beings trust may be bribed to sell otherwise secret technology blueprints to Agori in the black market, and that this may have been how the robotic Agori got the mechanical parts, correct?

As for said Agori deliverers being the actual black market leaders... I have to say no, that's not a good idea. Why? Well, running black market operations would require a lot of time. The Great Beings, I'm sure, would want things delivered very promptly. They would also very likely know if anyone other than the deliverer had their hands on a piece of technology. So it would make more sense for the deliverers to only acquire these illegal goods, rather than actually running the transfers.

Alright, then we want the Black Markets leaders to be the Mutated Agori? It would be better if they did all the job, so we could have less characters and more characterization.
